Decoy Lakes Field Trial Club, 2019 fall trial

On October 12th Decoy Lakes Field Trial Club gathered at the RP Wellons Family for the Annual Decoy Lakes Field Trial Club fall trial. We were fortunate to have a full roster of dogs to run for the event. You have to love October in North Carolina. One day, you would think summer is behind you and fall has settled in, the next, summer bounces right back to remind you that it isnít quite gone just yet. This weekend would ring true to that end. The forecasted temperatures were cool in the morning but were going to quickly rise to the low to mid 80s. Both dogs and handlers are eager and ready to take on the warm and dry conditions to show their stuff.

Enough thanks cannot be expressed to the Wellons family for allowing us to run on their grounds. The field trial community owes a great debit of gratitude to private land owners that continue to allow the use of their grounds for trials so that we can enjoy this sport that we all cherish so much. The grounds were in immaculate shape with plenty of feed strips and edges that would allow a dog to show well.

A huge thank you goes out to Larry Wade for putting on a class event where the participants were treated with a wonderful lunch on the grounds, provided by Anna Wade and a supply of refreshments for the warm weather.

We would also like to thank the Judges Brent Johnson, Scott Turner, Jerry Raynor and Jeff Ruth whom offered their time to look at each and every dog and all the owners, handlers that came and ran their dogs. Support from Purina, Garmin and Gundog Supply are greatly appreciated for this trial and for the NBHA. We look forward to the next renewal.
