Bob Catlett Missouri State Classic Results

Bob Catlett Memorial Classic was hosted by the Missouri Bird Hunters and ran by the people of Southwest Missouri walking field trial club. I am very proud of this group which does everything they can to make this trial a success every year. You all are greatly appreciated, Thank you.
We kicked off the 3 day weekend with Open Shooting Dog on Friday January 31st. With 12 dogs being drawn and bird work in every brace we knew scenting conditions were good. The judges had plenty of bird work to see which dogs would make the podium. 1st place was Colby Tacketts setter Guns Pistol Pete with a great race and solid bird work. 2nd was Kenny Snow and his pointer Crazy Train with multiple finds and a great race. 3rd was a setter owned and handled by Tim Penn, Penrosa Hidncash. Cash done all the right things in the last brace and with a couple finds found the 3rd place spot. Congrats to all they had to work for it.
We had time to squeeze in the Open Derby to finish out the day. Emmett Sassers German Shorthair Elmer T stood above the rest with a great race and 2 pieces of broke bird work. Kenny Snows 2 pointers Tin Man 2nd and Outfield 3rd will have a great future in this game.
Saturday morning February 1st was very cool to start off the open puppy. With a litter bred by Chuck Maxson and Ross Wagner we knew the competition was strong with the litter sweeping most puppy stakes around our area. Chuck Maxson and Wild Afire,SF, received 1st. A fairly newcomer to the game Luke Tewes from Nebraska brought his Irish setter's to play the game and Brooks Red Hot Ruby got 2nd place. Finishing out 3rd place was Lindsey Wagner's Mo's Blazingstar, SM. A great puppy class with a great future.
Amateur Shooting Dog was up next. Tim Penns setter Penrosa Hidncash topped the class with an outstanding job with 5 finds and a back. Joe Zimmers two setters also done a great job Foggy Bottom Uncle Ted received 2nd with 5 finds and Foggy Bottom Diamond Jim with a couple finds and a back received 3rd.
Next up was the Amateur Shooting Dog js@f with only one dog finishing John Ruetschi pointer came out of retirement and put on a pointing show. Docs Bullet, PM, was our 1st place dog. 2nd and 3rd places were withheld.
Sunday was warming up nicely, a beautiful day to run dogs. We only placed two dogs in the Amateur Derby stake. Both dogs came all the way from Alabama. Under the handling skills of Mr. Jim Crook. 1st place went to Outlaw Masterson, PM, with perfect bird work and 2nd was awarded to Outlaw Romano, PM, who also found birds and did a good job. 3rd place was withheld.
Last was the Amateur Puppy with all the same hype as the Open class. With 10 puppies drawn it was a good class. Chuck Maxson's puppy Wild Afire, SF, was the winner. 2nd went to Mo's Blazingstar, SM, handled by Lindsey Wagner. The surprise of this class was a six-year-old girl Penelope Sasser that handled a 7 month old German Shorthair Pointer Female, Sassers Four Roses. She handled this puppy like a season veteran and captured 3rd place. Congrats to all.
