Ken Tolbert

Ken Tolbert of Oneonta, AL is a true testament to field trials. Ken was a bird hunter first and he knew from his experience as a hunter what a good bird dog should be. Ken attended his first field trial in 1986, and in 1987 he entered his first NBHA trial as an amateur. From that point on he was hooked on field trials. In 1990 Ken began training gun dogs for clients and at that time he declared himself a professional handler. In 1996 Ken began breaking his dogs to the NBHA standards where he began to
compete and travel across the country with his dogs.

Ken has been very successful with his dogs in the winner circle. He won the RU title in 2002 at the NBHA National Open Championship with Eboga Slick Deal. In 2007 he won the NBHA National Open Championship with Eboga Cracker Jack. In 2008 Ken took the RU title at the National Open and he won the NBHA National Free-For-All Championship with Eboga Cracker Jack. Ken has had numerous dogs that have won in NBHA Regional Championships and State Classics throughout his career. Ken has received the NBHA Open Handler of the Year award on three different occasions.

Ken has been a judge for many of the NBHA trials at all levels; most noted national trials are the NBHA National Amateur Invitational, and the NBHA National Free-For-All Championships. He has been a State Director for the state of AL, and has served as an officer for the Blount County Field Trial Club. Ken has served as trial chairman, donated his time, equipment, and provided his training grounds for use of field trials. His hard work and commitment to the sport and to the NBHA organization has been much appreciated.
