The October Green Bay Pointing Dog Club Trial was about renewing old friendships and making new ones. Our club will like to thank Mike Duval, Mike Roper, Steve Donovan, Deb Dlobik, Greg Blair and his ten-year old daughter Maddie, who seemed to have a very good time, also John and Alisa Jungbluth and last but not least, my very good friends from Antigo, Jim and Fran Brown who came to run their dog, CH Brown’s Brute Justice (call name Buddy) and their young female, Sonny. We moved our trial from Sept. to Oct. hoping for cooler weather; it was cooler but we got rain. It was fun anyway.

The 2013 NBHA National Amateur Championship concluded on November 24th at the Sportsman Association Grounds at Grove Spring Missouri. The trial, Hosted by the Missouri Bird Hunters Association, drew a good entry of 28 top flight shooting dogs. Crowned Champion was Hard Rappin War Hawk, handsome white and orange setter male owned and handled by Alan Worth of Prescott, Iowa. Hard Rappin War Hawk, call name Hank, is on a roll. He won Runner Up honors just the week before at the AFTCA National Amateur Walking Shooting Dog Championship in Eskridge, Kansas.

We were bless with a beautiful day for our Field Trial, and I might add a very busy one, we had a full days running with a short lunch break. It was good to have Bobby and Mildred Taylor come and bring their dogs and Bobby joined Brud Powell to judge the Open Derby. David Lovern came from Georgia to run his Derby, David is a real likable man, seemed to enjoy the day and promised to come to come back. Hall of Fame, Buddy Smith came from Tennessee to run his derbies and he was good enough to judge the Amateur Shooting Dog with Ken Tolbert.
