This year nearly 1,500 dogs competed in an NBHA trial – held in 12 different states. This includes all Open, Amateur, Futurity, Amateur shooting dog judgment ceases at flush and Sporting Dog (retrieving) stakes – weekend and Championship. Thank you to all the owners, handlers, judges, spectators, state clubs, etc. for making this a great year for the NBHA and our walking trials. The Stranger Creek FTC held our spring NBHA walking trial along the abnormally dry fields adjoining Stranger Creek the last weekend of April. Everything was green, crops were going in the ground and the scenting conditions were tough for the dogs. We had great weather Saturday for the Open Shooting Dog and Derby stakes but Sunday morning brought rain showers throughout. We delayed for about 45 minutes and then started during what proved to be a short break from the wet stuff.
