2012 NBHA at Pheasant Fest

NBHA displayed at Pheasant Fest 2012 put on by Pheasants and Quail Forever on the three day weekend of February 17-19. The booths were open from Friday 1pm-9pm, Saturday from 9am to 6pm and Sunday from 10am to 5pm. I have not heard an official attendance report yet but on Friday afternoon and most of Saturday, it was hard getting up and down the aisles for the number of folks crowded in. I expect the crowd was in excess of 25,000 for the three days.

2012 NBHA Midwest Regional CH

NBHA Midwest Regional Championship concluded on Sunday January 15th at the Posey WMA north of Chillicothe, MO. Posey WMA is made up of more than 5000 acres of diverse habitat. Most of the course consisted of small grain fields, some mowed fields and fields that have several different species of native grass growing that are bordered by brushy edges and timber draws. These grounds make for an excellent place for a bird dog to test its ability in finding birds.

2012 National Amateur Invitational Championship

The Alabama Region of the NBHA hosted the National Amateur Invitational Championship. We were privileged to have the use of Ken Tolbert’s training grounds and facilities not to mention his equipment, dog trailer, four wheelers, of course the legendary Mr. Charles Aston and his mechanical mule handled the dog wagon chores and helped everyone that needed assistance. We would have been hard pressed to have put this stake on without the generosity of Ken Tolbert, his family, Mr. Charles Aston, Mr. Brud Powell of Arab, AL. Ken Tolbert and Brud Powell of Arab Ala. filled the judicial saddles for both stakes. We want to also thank our generous sponsors for the continuing support of our events. The NBHA and event host are truly rewarded by the support from Purina, Tri-Tronic’s, Christie Enterprises, and Gun Dog Supply. All of the added winner’s gifts are additional rewards for their effort in the bird dog world. Thanks again to everyone.

2011 NBHA Mid South Region Championship

Eboga Go Go Ann, a coming eight year old pointer female, owned by Charles Aston and handled by Ken Tolbert, was named the 2011 NBHA Mid South Region Champion. Ann was last years RU and Mr. Charles told her to try harder this year and she wouldn't have to stand down wind of the champion when she got her picture made, it worked. Ann ran in the first brace ,with a frost you could have tracked a rabbit in. Ann ran to the front and had nine finds, always to the front and going forward. She also had a clean stop to flush to add to her performance.

Fishing Creek Bird Dog Club Results Updated

Fishing Creek Bird Dog Club - Saturday Oct. 29, 2011 The Fishing Creek Bird Dog Club held a NBHA trial. Heavy fog caused a delay running but once we got started we had a great day. Mike had the grounds in superb shape and birds were plentiful. Lunch was served on the grounds and everyone had a great time. The open shooting dog was won by Her Ruby Red Slipper an Irish setter owned and handled by Allen Fazenbaker. Ruby ran a nice forward race with bird work all in order. Second place went to Rare Coin owned and handled by Arnold Hall; this English Pointer male done a nice job but not quite as consistent as Ruby. Third place went to Gary Vitali’s male English setter, Vitali Grouseringer Sam I Am. Sam ran a little inconsistent but finished with a solid third place.
