It was another very good year for the National Bird Hunters Association in 2012-13. Despite some very tough spring weather requiring the delay or cancellation of several field trials, the NBHA again had an increase year over year in the number of dogs run in our trials.

The Dewey Mullins Open Shooting Dog Classic stared April 3rd and concluded on April 5th with the derbies running on Friday and the judging seminar on Friday evening. We thank the Somerset Bird Dog Club for hosting these events and look forward for bigger and better next year. We have a lot of people to thank and I don’t want to miss anyone. These events could not have been possible without the help of Purina, NBHA, Gun Dog Supply, Somerset Bird Dog Club; Waste Connections were a major sponsor in this event. Pam and Buster Tucker were there for us when we needed help. Jim Crouse and Georgie Casey did the judging assignments and handled things top notch. This trial was named for a great KY Sportsman and at the age of 92 Mr. Dewey Mullins watched every dog in every race and had his opinions. We thank Chris Mathan from Strideaway for coming and taking pictures of the grounds and dogs. The judging seminar was a great success with a panel of Jim White, Jim Crouse, Dewey Mullins, John Russell and moderated by Georgie Casey; Job well done by all.
