2009 Western Regional Ch.

Just one week before one of biggest rivalries in sports, the OU/Texas game, Okies and Texans came together for their love of the sport of gentlemen field trailing. I would like to thank all of the people that helped with this years N.B.H.A. western regional championship (one of the best & most fun field trials that I have had the privilege to be a part of). Thank you to Bob & Paula Caffey, Jerry Meyers and Ken & Melissa Sauer. Thanks to E.J. Hall & Kim Ochoa for planting the birds. Most of all; to our judges Tom Milam & Mike Griffin for three long, wet days in the saddle. Without all of you this would have not been possible.

CCFTC "WOW 72 Entries @ Weekend Event"

We had a great time at this event held on October 17-18, 2009. Held on the "Bush Ranch" in Lagarnge, TX. Land Owner Pat Bush is gracious to allow us to hold events on he ranch. She's a wonderful supporter of dog events and has great ground to really show yor dog (even places for them to hide). Some parts are open with objectives and water is within ten minutes of each pond. Great for keeping the dogs cool in the lovely Texas heat. Still can't believe the entris of 72 dogs. The scary part was how are we going to run all of these dogs in just two days?

Midwest Regional Championship

The Midwest Regional Championship has been moved from the Whetstone Conservation Area to the Sportsman's Association Grounds in Grove Springs, Missouri. The switch was made when it became clear that the Whetstone grounds would not be suitable this year due to lack of crop harvest and mowing. The Sportsman's Grounds are one of the premier venues in the country and we are blessed to have the opportunity to run there. This is a potential site for next year's National Championship, so if you would like to have a chance to look the grounds over, come on and run with us at the Midwest.

NBHA National Amateur Invitational Championship

The NBHA National Amateur Invitational Championship held forth on Tallgrass Farms in beautiful eastern Kansas with a gratifying entry of the top NBHA Amateur handled dogs from the 2008-2009 field trial season. Judges Paul Roederer and Roger Duncan named Wild Covey Heatwave, powerful pointer male co-owned by Jason Kemna and Tony King of Missouri champion after a well executed four find performance. Tony handled while Jason scouted their charge to the balanced hour of edge running. Tim Penns winning setter male Pennrosa Knox was named runner up with a reaching five find effort that came in the next to last brace of the trial. Numerous coveys of wild birds were moved along with liberated birds along the wild life haven that is Scott Crawfords Tallgrass. A large and appreciative gallery watched the proceedings as handlers came from as far away as Texas, Oklahoma and southern Illinois to compete. All entries had multiple opportunities on birds making for exciting braces throughout.
